Kids Craft: Leaf Masquerade Mask

Using cardstock, scissors, twine or popsicle sticks, glue, glitter, a hole puncher, and loose fake leaves (found at craft stores), this leaf mask is fun to make for wearing, decorating, or even for creating a masquerade wreath.

Materials:

Leaf Mask using Ribbon and Cardstock
  • Cardboard or Autumn Colored Cardstock Paper
  • 1 Roll of Twine
  • 2-3 Bags of Colored Fake Loose Leaves
  • Double-sided Tape or Glue
  • Scissors or, if using cardboard sharp knife (used by grown-up only)
  • Hole Puncher or Popsicle Stick
  • Glitter (optional)
  • Black, Orange, or Brown Marker

Directions:

  1. Shape the mask, use a pencil to draw the mask like a Raccoon's mask and draw where the eyes will be.
  2. Use Scissors to cut out the mask.
  3. Trace around the eyes with a marker, shade around them.
  4. Place loose leaves at angles around the outside of the mask, then fill in the center parts, using tape or glue. Cut the leaves to fit and stay out of eyes if needed.
  5. Punch a hole in each side of the mask. Cut two 8 inch pieces of twine, place through holes, tying the outter end into a knot. If using popsicle sticks, glue to the back of one side and paint brown or black before using.
  6. Lay the mask on newspaper and sprinkle autumn colored glitter over it. Let it set a few minutes than shake off and wipe away from the eye holes (optional).

These masks are fun, affordable, and a great project to enjoy for fall. Happy Autumn!
